Thank you so much for your
kindness in visiting my small corner of the renowned halls of the Manor of
Poetry (Allpoetry) where so many, such as yourselves, shine with divinity. And
although I may not be a luminous, looming star of the poetic heavens, I am
content to settle in as a small glimmer of grace -- the tiniest petal or
ash from a newly-flung star.
For your reading enjoyment, Tales Nature Tells, is an intriguing
collection of spiritually-inspired nature poems that I have composed in
various poetry forms. For several months now I have been an astute student
of poetry, taking classes, venturing into contests, writing on a daily
basis because of my love for the art. Before this I mainly wrote in prose
as I had no concept of meter and form. I have come a long way in the
imagery-clad, metrical shoes of poetry -- perhaps I shall step into her
high-heels one day. How grandiosely I should parade them!
For the most part I have found my niche in nature themes and personifying
garden's flowers into sweet maiden belles, utilizing some prose, but
mostly in classic forms such as the sonnet, villanelle, ottava rima,
rondeau, etc. These flower maidens are the beauty of my heart
incarnated, so much so, that I have recently published an illustrated,
story-like hard-back book entitled, Tales Flowers Tell.
In my opinion
poetry is an art one never quite masters, yet its contingents wield
a myriad of universal talent in self-interpretations, expressions, and
styles. With all this being said, please accept in sincerest and humblest
offering my repertoire of poetry, Tales Nature Tells.
So you will not
be lost meandering through my halls, this is a link to return to the contest room
if you feel so inclined to leave a comment. Click on the links provided
below to view any of my work in this collection. (For your convenience,
you will not navigate from this page.) For familiarity with any poetry
forms featured here, I have included this resource link. Thank you and enjoy your stay.

classic appeal of the French rondeau, bask in the winter sun of her
sing-song refrains: "..the miracle of barren days in winter
sun." |

e l ' s T o u c h (Lanturnes)
Soaring with a poetic string of lanturnes is much like releasing
heaven's kite into an energizing land of verse. Based on an image
provided by the contest judge, my inspiration took its wings with
this three lanturne-poem that went on to win a bronze trophy (my
first attempt with this form). |
L i n e
n W i n g s (Ode) "Think
white linen and write its poetry." I gave my entry poetic
weight through powerful images, mood, word-economy and originality,
authenticity of voice, movement, metaphors, creativity, and passion.
This ode won an Honorable Mention and a slew of public sentiment
based on my own personal triumph, expedited by linen's whitest
wings. |
R o s
e o f S h a r o n (Heroic
Rispetto) Song of Solomon 2:1
"I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys." In
an intricate blend of heart-soul-nature, this Heroic Rispetto
(Italian for ode of respect) won a gold trophy. I trust I conveyed
the Savior of my soul, Song-of-Solomon style, with the most
grandiose honor that could be humanly bestowed. The gold trophy is
not mine but His of majesty and triumph. |

(Sonnet - Acrostic) Fact: Did you know that Morning
Glories bloom only in the morning hours? Shortly thereafter, they
die--such fragile beauties--and I treat them as such in this sonnet
with all the dignity they deserve! Composing a rhyming, metered
acrostic is not the easiest of tasks. Even harder, try marrying the
two--the acrostic (knight) with the sonnet (lady love)--quite a tall
order, yet, they make quite a dashing pair, don't you think!
(Anyway, a shiny, gold trophy now sits pretty on my desk.) |
